DEFINITION OF SPEED RANGE AT SMBC

  • SMBC offers different speed groups 10-12,12-14,14-16,16-18,17-19, and 20-23 MPH
  • It is the ride leader's responsibility to keep the group within the announced speed range
  • It is expected that the speed will fluctuate within the range depending on local normal conditions (hills, wind, traffic, etc.)
  • Should the weather conditions change (high winds, heavy rain, detours, etc...) the Ride Leader can modify the speed range as long as he/she makes sure everyone is comfortable with the change. This can be discussed at the pre ride briefing or during the ride
  • When groups merge, they should adjust to the lowest speed range
  • No one should feel he/she was forced to ride at a speed that was uncomfortable
