Cyclefest 2021
Welcome back to Gulf Coast Cyclefest!
We are looking forward to hosting riders for a fun in-person event this fall in the beautiful Sarasota/Manatee area of Florida’s gulf coast.
With a variety of route distances, there is something for every rider:
Bring a friend! This past year has been challenging for many, but a positive outcome has been a boom in bicycling worldwide, so help us encourage and welcome riders new to cycling and organized rides.
In addition to the innovative and interesting route choices, your registration fee includes:
• Continental Breakfast
• SAG support
• Well-stocked rest stops
• Friendly volunteers eager to make your ride special
• Boxed lunch and drinks
• Tech Shirt event shirt for first 550 registered riders
• Fun, lively finish line party on Main Street in Lakewood Ranch
All proceeds from Cyclefest help to support SMBC initiatives: Smart Cycling and Bike Maintenance classes, children’s Bike Safety Rodeo, and working with local entities to further the interests and safety of all bicyclists and to the improvement of bike infrastructure.
Route Highlights
Our routes were designed with safety in mind and will satisfy every style and ability of rider:
24 miles: This is an out-and-back route to the rest stop at beautiful Rye Preserve. With a bicycle lane the entire length of the route, it is perfect for riders who are comfortable riding in bicycle lanes on streets that have moderate traffic.
36 miles: This route is the same as the 24 mile route with the addition of a 12-mile loop. The loop does not have bike lanes so riders should be comfortable with riding on country roads without a bike lane.
50 miles: From the Rye Preserve rest stop, riders will take a loop out to the second rest stop at Old Miakka Schoolhouse and back to Main Street.
75 miles: The same route as the 50 miler with the addition of a 25 mile loop that will take riders out to Myakka City along beautiful country roads and back to the Old Miakka Schoolhouse for the second time and then on to finish at Main Street.
100 Miles: The same route as the 75 miler with the added 25 mile extra loop by repeating the loop that will take riders out to Myakka City along beautiful country roads and back to the Old Miakka Schoolhouse then on to finish at Main Street.
